WE NEED YOUR HELP!!!

Typhoon Ondoy or its international name Ketsana has left things that could destroy lives further... Up to now there are so many people still missing, many people hungry and hurt, and others still shocked. below are some post from the Internet where we can help out in this tragedy wherever you are. PLEASE HELP, IN WHATEVER FORM MAY THAT BE!

Help Flood Victims

This will be short.
I’m sending out an appeal to the world.
As I write this article, thousands of people are still trapped in the floodwaters of typhoon Ondoy—or in relocation sites that have no food and drinking water. (Just in case you don’t know anything about what’s happening in Metro Manila and Rizal province, here are photos of the storm: http://fiveprime.org/hivemind/Tags/ondoy.)
My friend, Sonia Lozada, is owner of Trinity restaurants.. Since yesterday, her five restaurants have been cooking like crazy and sending packs of cooked food to devastated areas.
Sonia was right about cooked food. Because if you’re trapped in floodwaters, uncooked food is useless. You can’t cook anything. Sonia has also been delivering cases of bottled water—but they weren’t enough. One bottle of water was shared by three people.
With our financial support, Sonia’s team will continue to feed people today and tomorrow. I will personally be there, giving out food and drinking water to Flood Victims today. My team will be there as well—all of us who can help.
But cooking food today and tomorrow is only an emergency measure.
In the next few weeks and months, the real work will begin: All our organizations—Light of Jesus, KerygmaFamily, etcetera, will do the hard work of helping people rebuild their homes damaged by the floods—thus helping them rebuild their lives. It will be a long and difficult work—but we’ll be there for them.
This is what Jesus wants us to do.
Friend, you may not be here physically to help, but you can be our spiritual and financial support. First, pray for the victims. Pray for strength that they regain their hope. Many are devastated emotionally.
Second, if you can, make a donation and help them.
If you want to be part of our efforts to help Flood Victims, you can make a donation. Any amount will do. You can make your deposit online or through a bank.

May your dreams come true,

Okay, remember that time in Indonesia, where the tidal wave/tsunami hit around Christmas Time?

Did you remember the videos of people being chased by cars with no people in them?

Apparently, this previous storm (signal #2 only!) was exactly like that --but spread out in Manila and nearby areas - with places not affected and some places affected. It was flash floods all around. And yes, I was outdoors at that time, trying to get home from a postponed workshop in Cubao. (They shut off the Power in the Mall, they didn't give us a reason why but I think it was a nearby fire, yes, even with the rain). So yes, I saw what it looked like - EDSA area but nothing compared to what happened in C5 or Katipunan or elsewhere.

Let pictures do that talking: http://fiveprime.org/hivemind/Tags/ondoy

The insidious thing was -- the rain wasn't all that hard. Nor the winds. It felt like a "regular" storm. Until the water rose too quickly and soon -even those in cars- were not safe. I actually tried wading in kneed deep flowing water (very unsafe!) just to get home but got blocked by waist deep water and decided it wasn't worth it. So yes, I checked into a hotel - the first one my mind remembered and stayed there until the next day. I looked out the window and saw a peaceful manila - this wasn't the affected area (Ortigas), it was Marikina and Manila and ....

Anyway.

Here's my point, if you're itching to help here's your chance:

1. How you can donate and stuff: Even if you're not in the Philippines:

http://sourpolitics.wordpress.com/2009/09/26/typhoon-ondoy-emergency-hotlines-and-relief-operations/

2. If you have access to a vehicle, heavy moving equipment and boats, head on over to the Google Situation Map where you can find who DIRECTLY needs help: (A Pinoy inside Google had a hand in creating this one, I think)

http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&hl=en&msa=0&msid=110868206150348750692.00047479b6400ee29bd89&ll=14.645791

3. To update this map, use this: http://bit.ly/ondoymapresponse

4. Plus, if you're monitoring the news, try this REAL TIME view from Twitter users:

http://twitter.com/search?q=%23Ondoy#search?q=ondoy

5. Missing People List: (You can edit this)

http://spreadsheets.google.com/lv?key=tohu9kthNU6anlf21Low08g&f=true&gid=14

6. Yes, some of the data are redundant --that's expected -people are just assembling this as it happens. And yes, yes I know that one day they'll look at us Pinoys and say that the Internet/Twitter/FB/Google Maps/Google docs has helped tremendously - but that's not the point TODAY.

So now, is this any where related to Inter-.net Mar.keting? Nope. It isn't and it doesn't have to be.

Now, live a remarkable life and if you're able, HELP OUT!

Pacman vs. Hatton

May 3 will be the day.

We Filipinos have long waited for another of our very own Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao's fight. This time he will face the Hitman from UK, Ricky Hatton.

Some boxing aficionados predict that this fight will be bloody. These two fighters have been known for their endurance and strength, thus many say that this fight will be bloody.

The event will be in Las Vegas. Though there are issues with the A(H1N1) virus scare, fight organizers made sure that such venue is well monitored for possible contamination. But besides that all will be a rumble.

We cheer for you Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao, Philippines's Pambansang Kamao!

Fish out of water

I got a chance to be back in the Philippines since my May visit. As I was about to leave the airport there’s this feeling that makes me uncomfortable. It’s kinda a fish brought out of the water. I know I am from the Philippines and yet the moment I step out of the airport it caught me. Probably I have adapted to the Guam atmosphere or it was just that my body clock is still sticking to the Guam time, a two hour difference, thus my body seems to reject the state that it was submerge into.

The last time I came here I asked how the country was after the successive financial blows brought about by the sub-prime woes of Wall Street. Gases were at the Range of Php 40-50, rice is at Php 30-40 range, and minimum jeepney fare is at Php 8.50. The groceries that your Php1, 000.00 can buy was reduced to half as much what you can buy a year ago. I asked the taxi driver I hired and told me that gas prices has already stabled but it would be nice if it would still go down so that at least they can make ends meet. Life here truly seems to be harder than a year ago.

As I step into my old apartment, I felt this uncomfortable feeling of limited space. I know I had live in this apartment for nearly 8 years and yet it seems that I am place in a tiny room were I can’t breathe. The light was dim and it added to my dizzy state. As if the place is too small for four people and yet this very same place served me and my three siblings in our college years. Probably I have not yet adjusted or I have not yet switched my adjustment button to condition my body to this Philippine setting.

I was early the next day to process my POEA clearance. The first observation was that traffic is bad and that everywhere seems to be scathe by the black smoke coming out of buses. Pollution lurks in the city…and yet so many Filipino’s still prefer to live in such place where employment is available. Anywhere you look people are trying there best to survive another day…either the right way or the wrong way. Where in the world will you find a bus still waiting for passengers to come to there bus even the traffic light is green.

Probably I have forgotten the life back in the Philippines. But I realize something in my short vacation, if Guam can do it why not Philippines? Simple traffic rules and yet everyday it is violated. Wages are low but the problem is people are choosy…at the same time unwise in their use of money. They complain that they don’t have enough to survive a day and yet they a have a cellular phone on their hand forward ridiculous text messages. Problem truly is in our Pinoy mentality…our culture of laziness and use of connection to politicians. Things could have been done to make our country a better place to live but we never make an effort to do it….
